Going Outside!!

Being a stay-at-home mom has been kind of a hard transition for me to make. I just get so bored sitting at home. I think it's mostly because it's winter and we can't get out much. Today, both Kate and I were going stir crazy and so we went outside! It was really freezing and Kate fell in the snow...so we didn't stay out for long--but she loved it! I can't wait for warmer weather!!

Animal Farm

Uh oh...once I get reading I can't quit! I went out and got Animal Farm this morning and finished it tonight! (Meanwhile, the house is a mess...) I really have to be careful about starting books, because--with the exception of 1984--I have a tendency to forget about everything else until I'm done.

What a great book, though! So cleverly written. Wow.

Nineteen Eighty-Four

Holy cow! I finally finished this book last night!! I can't believe how long it's taken me! I started it back in my last semester of school. I wanted to read a book of my choosing (as opposed to my many reading lists) and had also been disappointed that I was never assigned to read this all through high school or college. Then I got pregnant...started remodeling the house...had a kid...sold the house...moved...anyway, excuses excuses, I know. I started reading pregnancy books and then child-rearing books and left classic literature gathering dust on the shelf. Sad!

Anyway, it was a great book! I would definitely recommend it to anyone out there who hasn't read it yet. It is an excellent read! I think it would have been even better if I read it in a shorter time span, though. I am going to read Animal Farm (also by George Orwell) next. I read it when I was in highschool, but let's face it...that was a long time ago...And it's only like 90 pages or so, so it shouldn't take me two years! Geesh.

A New But OLD Calling

Yes yes. Once again, I have been called to nursery. The last time I got called to nursery, I started crying...so I think I did much better this time. I was actually hoping for that call so that I wouldn't have to keep Kate silent and happy for such a long period of time. She will love it!! She's about 5 months shy of being a legal nursery participant, but I think she'll get along just fine. I just hope she doesn't catch every illness that walks through the door!

This time is also better because Andrew is going to be with me in there! It will be an easy calling for him while he's in school this semester--which is another big plus. And of course, another bonus is that we are moving at the end of the semester, so if it's horrible it won't have to be endured forever! Heh, heh.

Oh yes...and we are so excited about seeing the shiny, happy faces of children every week. ;) (See picture above)

I just wish that picture was an actual reflection of what nursery is like. Ha! When I close my eyes, all I see is snot, tears, and violence. Hmm... I hope Kate likes it...

The Ron Paul March in Vegas!!

For those of you who already think I'm crazy, this post will only confirm that belief!

Yesterday, my sister's entire family and Kate and I (Andrew's in school, so he couldn't go) caravanned on down to Vegas (roughly 5 hours) for a Ron Paul freedom march. There were about 400-500 people that came from all over to participate. It was so fun!! We marched down the Las Vegas strip. The effort was to raise awareness for Ron Paul's message (returning our country to the principles it was founded on--aka the Constitution) before the Nevada caucus next week. It was a quick trip--got there yesterday afternoon and returned home tonight.

I've decided I never need to go to Las Vegas again (sleazy sleazy), but I am very glad I went down there for the march. Even if you aren't going to vote for Ron Paul, I'd encourage everyone out there to get informed about the candidates and vote your conscience!

If you are interested in learning more about Ron Paul but don't have a lot of time, see below for a short 8 minute video of Ron Paul to give you a quick intro. It's got some rockin' music--enjoy! Below that one is a quick video of the march.

Ron Paul : Don't tread on me

Hope you like it! :)

You Say You Want a Revolution...

Sorry about the shotty camera work...it was hard pushing a stroller, walking, yelling, and recording at the same time. Hopefully, you can get the feel for it. Enjoy the milk close-ups.

Fun with Old Roommates

Sizing each other up

On Sunday, my old roommate Shannon and husband Zack (and Oliver) were in town from Massachusetts. Zack is already working on his PhD (that seems light years away)! Larson and Neal live in Provo, too, so we were able to all get together for dinner. This time we were just missing Megan and John! It was a lot of fun to see them and meet their little boy. Kate had lots of fun playing with Oliver and his toys. She really enjoyed dancing on the table, though--uh oh...

Some new pictures

Man, I am way behind on posting pictures. I've taken a ton with the new camera, but really am struggling with figuring everything out. Most of the pictures I take are blurry and dark! Here are some of the less blurry and dark ones. I would recruit Andrew's help, but he's busy getting ready for school that starts today. 'Sigh.'

Kate got a cute pink horse from her great grandma for Christmas and is sporting a super cute dress that she got from my parents. One of her favorite things to do is wrap herself in a blanket. She spends much of her time playing under a blanket. It is so cute.
